I like building single pickup guitars without any switches. Here’s why: A standard single-pickup style guitar with a 3-way switch is capable of the following: |
|
Position 1: Bridge pickup with NO tone control
Position 2: Bridge pickup WITH tone control
Position 3: Bridge pickup with the treble heavily rolled off (NO tone control)
The “Eldred” mod is capable of this:
Position 1: Pickup only w/o tone control
Position 2: Pickup + tone control
Position 3: Pickup with fixed tone cap
If you don’t want the tone, simply roll it off !
There is no point in having a switch with a single-pickup guitar - you gain nothing you can’t get with your volume and tone knobs at the cost of an additional source of leakage in your circuit..
You don’t need a switch on your single-pickup guitar...
Just something to think about... |
